Jefferson (Birmingham) County Judge of Probate (Recording)

The Recording Department of the Jefferson County (Birmingham) Probate Court is the custodian of recorded real property documents, including warranty deeds, mortgages, liens, plats, powers of attorney, and releases. Recorded documents can be searched online at no cost through the county's Landmark Web portal (landmarkweb.jccal.org) by name, document type, book/page, instrument number, legal description, consideration amount, or record date. Registration is free and searching the index is free; viewing or printing document images requires payment (a subscription tier with additional access is also offered). Jefferson County maintains two probate divisions, Birmingham and Bessemer, both operating under the Probate Judge.
